We’ve covered many ideas and ways to search for, find, and buy a good used car…..and we have covered many ways of getting the most money for your good used car. However, as with most things, there are always more tips and methods to minimize the risk when buying and making sure you sell quick!
We’ll make this short and sweet….so you have more time to get back to browsing the cars and trucks for sale at wyndscreen!
(we know that’s how you spend your work day!)
- This seems like a no-brainer (and we have covered this before) but think of the entire spend it will take to purchase and drive a used car.
Things like:
-The price of the car
-Insurance (if the vehicle is financed, you may be required to carry full coverage insurance)
-Sales taxes, title fees, propety taxes
-Any transport and shipping charges
-Any repairs? Does the car need tires (tires are expensive)!?
Long story short, that $5000 used car can get to $9000 total very quickly if you are not careful in your search!
2. What exactly do you need the vehicle for?
Make sure you are getting the vehicle that fits your needs and wants. Pulling a trailer? How heavy is it? Commuting every day? How are the MPGs and are the seats comfortable? Would you really need all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive?
3. How many doors and seats do you need?
Is it just you? Are you lonely?
Carpooling to work?
Hauling 5 kids to ball practice?
You know you need a minivan….not a Tahoe.
4. Visit some dealer lots
Here at wyndscreen, we encourage private buying and selling, but dealer lots are good to visit to see the size of vehicles, see the different options available, go for test drives, or just sit in it to see if you like the layout before interacting with a private seller.

5. Think about the extras and options
Are there any must haves? What about all the safety features available today? Do you want or need those things?
Are you looking for an F150 XL work truck or an F150 Platinum show truck?
That could be a $20,000 swing in price.
And more insurance costs.
Make sure you aren’t paying a premium for things you don’t need or want.
6. Fuel / Energy efficiency
How important is MPG to you? Do you drive 5000 miles a year or 40,000 miles a year? Have you considered a hybrid or pure electric? Hybrids make sense for many people, especially if you live in an apartment or rent and adding a charging setup is not feasible.
7. Imagine the future
Due to the fact that buying a car is time consuming and costly, it’s kinda silly to not think of the next years when buying. Will it always be just you commuting in the car? Are you trying to start a business and might need a truck or van? Wanting to start a family? That 2 door Honda Civic might not be a good long term buy.
Thankfully at Wyndscreen, there is a wide variety of cars and trucks for sale. All of the details are up front, it’s easy to sort and search, and communicating with the seller is seamless.
Buying and selling has never been easier.
