Crazy to think we are 3 weeks into the new year already! Have you sold or purchased a good used car yet? Picked up a winter project? What are you waiting for?!
Yea, there is a slight slowdown during the winter months, but plenty of deals are still out there! Don’t get discouraged! We see many cool vehicles listed on the wyndscreen marketplace daily.
Now often times when you are looking for a certain car project, or have a collectible for sale, nationwide exposure and insight is key. It is crucial for a sale at your asking price.
So what is the best way to do that? What is the best way to search nationwide or get nationwide exposure for your nice ride?
We won’t rehash the pros/cons of the marketplaces that are out there now….but lets talk about the OG Craigslist. Craigslist is a 20+ year household name and still has many users, but is it the best platform to sell a cool car?
Take this example:
You have a 1956 Ford Thunderbird for sale. It’s well taken care of, could maybe even be a nice weekend driver. It’s nice enough for someone to drive home once they buy it, but its not quite pristine enough for an auction….on ebay, bringatrailer, cars and bids, or any other.
So you choose to sell it yourself, and want to get as many eyes on it as you can. More eyes usually means a quicker sale at a higher price. Win-win, right?
Well, how do you do that? How do you make sure you get all the eyeballs?
Is it with Craigslist? You assume there are many thousands of people out there looking, but how do you know for sure? Just to remind everyone…..Craigslist operates on ‘cities’ and that city is part of the URL for the site….e.g. nashville.craigslist.org or seattle.craigslist.org
So, if you list your car in your city, say denver.craigslist.org, how easy is it for someone in Raleigh or Orlando to find your sweet ride?
That was rhetorical, because its not easy or straightforward.
To counter act this, you post your Thunderbird in multiple nearby cities to try and get more exposure. Not only does this cost you $5 per ad (the very same ad), you still don’t get easy nationwide exposure. A win-win just turned into a lose-lose. That sucks. For real, not some made up example: This guy spent $25 when he didn’t have to! We are not being served well by the other guys….that’s for sure!

Not only is that method a lose-lose, but people seeing your ad assume that your car is available in their city (remember, they are looking at richmond.craigslist.org) but your car is actually in Goldsboro NC.
Results in lots of wasted time.
Lame.
We here at wyndscreen have created a NATIONWIDE marketplace that is free to use. If someone in California is looking for a 1956 Thunderbird, they can easily search nationwide, easily see how far away the results are, quickly see what state the vehicle is in, and can reach out on the site to quickly get questions answered. Serious buyers only. Always.
We also include a view counter so sellers can get a glimpse of how many eyes are viewing their sweet rides. That’s pretty cool!

Buyers don’t need to use third parties, ad-ons, or clunky social media sites to get a nationwide view and sellers can be confident that their prized car or truck will be viewable nationwide with just a few simple clicks.
Now that is a win-win.
