2024 is going to rock!

Happy New Year everyone!

Let’s step into the new year with some more understanding of why Wyndscreen is here and what our mission is.

Just to reiterate, wyndscreen.com is an online car marketplace dedicated to making the buying and selling process much more enjoyable, less frustrating, and more secure.

The Wyndscreen team has long been frustrated by Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace used car ads.  I’m sure you have been annoyed too.

Below is just a few reasons why we created a new solution:

-Ads with no pictures

-Difficult to search

-Cost $5 to post on Craigslist

-Have to install FB app and Messaging app

-Lots of cars for sale in private Facebook groups….so those are missed by the casual buyer

-Ads that are missing crucial info

-Low ball offers and bot messages

That’s enough to drive anyone mad, right?

But now lets talk about a site that has been trying to make a go of it….Offer Up

Maybe you’re familiar, maybe you’re not. If you’re not familiar, don’t worry….you aren’t missing much.

Anyone reading this already knows how much better Wyndscreen.com is compared to Craigslist and Marketplace, so lets outline how Wyndscreen is so much better than Offer Up as well.

First, OfferUp was created as a ‘yardsale’ type site to rival Craigslist and Marketplace.   They accomplished that goal, per the status quo.  They did the minimum.  They tried to appeal to everyone, so everyone gets a less than stellar experience. It’s a tale as old as time.  Tragedy of the commons if you will.   This is especially true for the OfferUp vehicle section.

Right off the bat, if you didn’t know, you can’t post an item from an actual computer.  Its mobile only.   So good luck if you don’t have a smart phone, don’t have much data, don’t want to use apps, can’t see the screen, want to use the site on the work computer (shhh!) or just prefer to work on a larger screen. Why should you have to choose?

You can’t even post your car for sale without downloading and installing the app .  No chance to use the mobile browser. How silly!

Think of all the people that don’t post there (so why look there?) due to that one reason.  Hundreds?  Thousands?

It doesn’t get much better from there:

  1. Can’t separate dealers from private sellers
  2. You only get 1 free listing per month (and you guessed it, sellers cross post to avoid the fees)
  3. Ads can stay active for up to a year, or longer!   Talk about wasted time inquiring about an ad that is a year old.
  4. Models aren’t listed for makes…..so good luck searching for a specific make and model, such as ‘Jeep Cherokee’ or separating Ford F150s from Ford F250s and F350s
  5. Its not easy to ‘renew’ or ‘refresh’ your ad.
  6. Can’t search by title status, or easily get this information
  7. Mileage disclosure is not required when posting. What are they hiding?
  8. You have to click on each item to see the most basic of info….only to find that the info isn’t even provided.

Oh, there is more, but we will stop now.

You get the picture.

So, long story short or TL;DR:

Offer Up was not made for serious car buyers and sellers and the entire vehicle section feels like an afterthought.

Just use Wyndscreen, whether you are a dealer or private user.

-Its free

-Its simple

-Its available to everyone: computer, phone, tablet, app, whatever.

-Each ad has all the info you need to make an informed decision.

-And the best thing?!……You’ll save money!

One last thing, we are here for you, human to human.  OfferUp is not.

Let us know what you want to see and how we can be better.
